Abstract: The Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion (BLEVE) is a kind of physical explosion, it can make great damage in the petrochemical Industry. In this paper, a small-scale experiment device was built to simulate the occurrence of suddenly initiated release through a top slit orifice. There are some dangers in the experiments process with LPG so water, instead of LPG was used as the test liquid during experiments for safety. Liquid height and orifice size have different influence on the magnitude of the over-pressure in experiment processes, the depressurization rate after the vessel broken increases with the rise of liquid height and orifice size, the distance between the liquid surface and the vessel top effects on the acceleration of the two-phase flow swell. The OF intensity of the over-pressure is determined by different factors, at the fill lever of between 60%-80%, the over-pressure appears more violently than the other fills, the larger opening, the greater over-stress.
